Prerequisites

Day 1: Introduction to Bioinformatics & Biological Databases
  • Overview of bioinformatics and its applications
  • Introduction to major biological databases (NCBI, UniProt, Ensembl)
Day 2: Sequence Analysis and Alignment
  • DNA and protein sequence formats
  • Pairwise and multiple sequence alignment (Clustal Omega, MUSCLE)
Day 3: Phylogenetics and Evolutionary Analysis
  • Basics of phylogenetic trees and methods
  • Building trees using MEGA or PhyML
Day 4: Genome Browsers and Annotation
  • Introduction to genome browsers (UCSC, Ensembl)
  • Exploring gene structure and variants
Day 5: Protein Structure Modeling and Visualization
  • Basics of protein structure
  • Protein structure databases (PDB)
  • Homology modeling (SWISS-MODEL, Phyre2)
Day 6: Basic Molecular Docking and Interaction Analysis
  • Docking and drug-target interactions
  • Tools: AutoDock Vina
Day 7: Case Studies & Mini Project
  • Analyze a biological dataset using learned tools
  • Prepare and present a report
